Each data point represents the average score for either height-for-age or each socioeconomic status index at each study site. The red line indicates a linear regression fit of the relationship between height-for-age and socioeconomic status indices using site as the unit of analysis. Study sites are: Dhaka, Bangladesh (BGD); Fortaleza, Brazil (BRF); Vellore, India (INV); Bhaktapur, Nepal (NEB); Naushahro Feroze, Pakistan (PKN); Loreto, Peru (PEL); Venda, South Africa (SAV); and Haydom, Tanzania (TZH).
